Australia has a wide range of flowers that are specific to Australia only. These are generally referred to as "native flowers" when ordering from florists. Over the years, the term has broadened somewhat to include many of the protea family and a few other non-European flowers.

Native flowers are quite seasonal despite the fact that they are now largely grown in plantations rather than harvested from the wild. So, when you order, try to avoid asking for specific species in case they are out of season and/or your local florist does not have them in stock.
