What is a Christening or a Baptism?
A Christening or Baptism is a religious service to introduce a person to into the Church by which a person is initiated, purified, or given a name. Whilst "christening" is reserved for the baptism of infants, the service is not only for infants. Adult baptism are becoming more frequent. Traditionally the service is carried out within a couple of months of a baby's birth. The Religious ritual is intended to welcome and initiate the baby into the Church and instill some of the basic Christian principles and values into the child.
