Noel’s or Christmas Carols have been sung back as far as the 13th Century. Originally they were songs of celebration and worship sung by the community at times of harvest and other celebrations (such as mid-summer and mid-winter) and eventually these songs began being sung a Christmas. As time moved on carols & Hymns began to be sung in Church and became specifically associated with Christmas.
Christmas Carols have even made it to be State anthems in America. O Christmas Tree O Christmas Tree’s melody has been used by 4 states, Iowa, Maryland, Michigan, and New Jersey as the basis for their state anthem. The opening line of Maryland's state song is: "Maryland, O Maryland!
